“I’m just a 15-year-old guy
who makes videos”

Oskar, also known as Dieser Oskar, is a 15-year-old youtuber from Germany. He has more than 300.000 subscribers who follow his everyday life through daily vlogs. Having that many fans can be difficult to comprehend, especially when going to an event, and you have hundreds of fans screaming your name.
Does Oskar look familiar? He was also an ambassador at the LMTD event 2016.

"I want to do something with my life"

I love social media, but I hate social media, you know what I mean? Sometimes you get lost in it, sucked into it, and your time disappears. People say, “A year ago, you were just a boy, and now you’re flying all over the world, you’re unreachable”. But I want to document what I’m doing. I’ve worked for it. I’ve worked for my opportunities. I want to do something with my life.

Q: Who are you?

A: I’m Oskar, I’m 15, and I’m from Germany. I do vlogs about my life and my lifestyle. I took a break from posting, like, a week ago. Sometimes I just feel a little low on energy and I want to stay in bed!

Q: How do you feel about your followers?

A: I have more than 300,000 people watching me – it’s crazy. But, to be honest, you get used to the numbers. It’s different when you see people in real life, at events, screaming your name. It can be uncomfortable, but it’s fun, too. I’m just a 15-year-old guy who makes videos, so for instance, when people take pictures without asking, it’s not cool. I still struggle a bit with the negative comments. If I read ten comments, and one of them is negative, that’s the one I remember. But I am trying to get better at that!

Q: What’s going on in your life now?

A: I go to school, I go out with friends, chill out. Watch and make videos. But mostly school. I really hate school, I’m a bad student. I just want to get through it. I’m really introvert, and don’t feel comfortable at parties, but I do it anyway so I get used to it. I just love staying at home creating or watching videos. I love to have somebody film and cut my videos, but at the same time I would love to just be behind the camera. I like the idea that you can create whatever you want.

Q: How does it feel to be somebody people look up to?

A: It’s amazing. I love hearing from people that they bought a camera I recommended, or that I inspired them to clean their room. That’s awesome. I never really realised that people actually listen. I’m 15, but even 20-year-olds say they want to be like me. The mission behind my videos is to show people what you can do. Many of my viewers are just sitting at home. And I want to show them that if they hustle hard, they can do exciting stuff too.

Q: What are the biggest challenges for your generation?

A: To stop consuming, always being on the phone. I have that problem, too. We should do something instead. I want to do something with my life! That’s why I started YouTubing. I love social media, but I hate social media, you know what I mean? Sometimes you get lost in it, sucked into it, and your time disappears. As you get more famous, you have more opportunities, though. People say, “A year ago, you were just a boy, and now you’re flying all over the world, you’re unreachable”. But I want to document what I’m doing. I’ve worked for it. I’ve worked for my opportunities.

What do you think about the new LMTD collection?

A: I like it way better than the last one. I love the skater style! I loved skinny jeans a year ago, but I’m not a big guy, so they look like leggings on me. It’s great to find other styles.
