I want to be an approachable person

"I just want to be true to myself. To be myself and maybe help other people, so they can come and talk to me. I want to be an approachable person that others can talk to. Mostly younger people contact me, and they share their thoughts and ask me questions. I answer all of them."

Q: Who are you?

A: I’m Dita, and I’m 16. I live in the western part of Finland. I have a YouTube channel where I make videos about my life, DIY and fashion. About 55,000 people follow me, and it’s amazing but scary at the same time. It feels weird when I think about it. I’ve just finished compulsory schooling, and after the summer break I’m going to high school. It’s a new chapter in my life.

Q: Has your social media life made you more social?

A: Of course, it has boosted my confidence, and made me braver. I feel more comfortable in myself now. I feel more confident when I go out, and it’s easier to talk to new people.

Q: How does it feel to be somebody others look up to?

A: It’s really amazing to think about. I always think before I post anything, because I know some people look up to me. But at the same time, it’s scary, because you really don’t know what to say, or if it’s OK. I really have to think and be more aware. But if I have a strong opinion about something, I’m not afraid to speak out about it. It depends what is going on in the world..

Q: Do you have any goals for your social fame?

A: I just want to be true to myself. To be myself and maybe help other people, so they can come and talk to me. I want to be an approachable person that others can talk to. Mostly younger people contact me, and they share their thoughts and ask me questions. I answer all of them.

Q: What would you do if the internet broke down?

A: As in forever? I would scream! It would be weird at first. But we could all get used to it, I guess! And maybe do something together at my house.

Q: What do you think of the new collection from LMTD?

Q: What do you think of the new collection from LMTD?

A: I like the palette, because I don’t really wear colours. Each style is different from the others, so there are plenty of ways to wear them. I can choose something personal and new every time. Fashion is a way to express myself. Sometimes when I go out I don’t care, but if I want to look good and dress up, I love it.
